Neurointensive Care Fellowship
Education and clinical research form an integral part of the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit. In addition to providing state-of-the-art therapy for life-threatening neurological disease, there are multiple ongoing clinical research trials examining novel diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for this patient population.
The Neurocritical care service offers both a clinical research and laboratory-based fellowship training. In both tracks, the fellows play an important role in patient care. Areas of clinical concentration include involvement in ongoing clinical trials and formal didactic training in clinical research, which may culminate in a Master's degree in clinical research. Laboratory-based research focuses on fundamental mechanisms of CNS injury, and translational modeling of stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Fellowship training is tailored to the individual candidate, who is encouraged to design a training program suited to specific career plans.
