Neurovascular Interventional Fellowship
The Duke Neurovascular Center offers a two-year fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery, following successful completion of a neurosurgery residency in an accredited program. The first year focuses on diagnostic cerebral and spinal angiographic techniques, and minor embolization procedures. The senior year develops the fellow’s skills as a neurointerventionalist.
The Duke program is a cutting edge fellowship, involved in the development of new interventional devices. We currently treat approximately 200 aneurysms per year with endovascular therapy, and the program is one of the fastest growing interventional programs in the country, with over 300 neurovascular interventions performed annually.
This state-of-the-art facility includes a Philips 3D biplane interventional suite, with a second unit under construction, an active endovascular animal lab, and an impressive list of neuroimaging tools including a PET scan, CT perfusion imaging, and 3.0 and 4.0 Tesla MRI units. Fellows are expected to participate in a wide variety of academic opportunities including clinical training, teaching, laboratory research, clinical conferences, and ample opportunities to publish.
