Research Funding for Neurosurgery Residents

The training program allows one to two years of research.  Residents are consistently successful at securing funding from national organizations such as the following:

AANS Grants and Awards
List of various research grants available to residents and fellows.
 
AANS Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation Fellowship
$70,000 over 2 years or $40,000 over one year for resident research related to any field in neurosurgery.
 
CNS List of Grants, Awards, and Fellowships
Database of numerous grant opportunities.
 
CNS Sponsored Fellowships
List of numerous fellowship opportunities ranging from $10,000 to $40,000.
 
Duke Funding Opportunities Website

Brain Tumors
Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure
Research grants for brain tumor research.
 
American Brain Tumor Association Research Awards
$80,000 over 2 years for basic research and $75,000 over one year for translational research in the field of brain tumors.
 
National Brain Tumor Foundation Grants
$15,000 to $50,000 grants available for brain tumor research.
 
The Hope Funds for Cancer Research
$40,000 per year for 2 years for postdocs (residents).

Movement Disorders
American Parkinson Disease Association Fellowships and Grants
Different grants ranging from $35,000 to $80,000 per year for Parkinson’s disease research.
 
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research
Various fellowships available for Parkinson’s disease research.
 
National Parkinson Foundation Individual Research Grants
$50,000 over one year for Parkinson’s disease research.
